Analyst™

Using electromagnetic analysis tools to design accelerator components and microwave hardware is, in our view, far more difficult and complex than it should be. Current tools require substantial user expertise and the commitment of a significant amount of time to reach an optimum design. Today's typical approach is thus too demanding, too slow, overly repetitive and fraught with the potential for error and inefficiency.

This challenge is addressed head-on by Analyst™, our automated system for designing three-dimensional accelerator and microwave resonant cavities. Via a set of advanced servers, the software enables geometry-driven design optimization, automatically creating an optimized product given an initial rough design. The product interfaces to powerful electromagnetic solvers developed at STAAR and Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, and has sophisticated postprocessing and result visualization capabilities. Analyst™ is a state-of-the-art solution to your most demanding design problems.

ObjectCAD™

Geometry creation can be very tedious, time consuming and highly demanding of the user. In many analysis application packages the user has to manually modify geometry to perform a design exercise. This is inefficient and expensive in terms of the length of the design cycle. In addition to being difficult to use, analysis CAD tools are often only weakly integrated into the software package, requiring error-prone file manipulation and other manual steps that slow down the design process.

To address this problem we have created ObjectCAD™, a geometry creation tool that is used to interactively create a 3-D geometric representation of a device that is being analyzed. It is based on the ACIS® geometry kernel from Spatial Technologies, and allows parameterization of the geometry in order to support design automation and optimization. Users create complex geometry by combining simple solids. Solids are defined in terms of parameters that may be modified even after the model is assembled.

ObjectMesh™

Mesh generation is another area where users are often required to interact extensively with the software to produce a useful mesh. While there will undoubtedly always be some circumstances where such interactions are useful and needed, most applications should not require such a high level of user interaction and most users would be very happy just to push a button and generate a mesh.

ObjectMesh™ is a 3D volumetric (tetrahedral) and surface (triangle) mesher designed specifically for ACIS® geometry. It is PC-based, automated, and equipped to handle your most challenging meshing problems. It is capable of producing high-quality meshes of complex structures in as little as two steps - selecting the model and clicking the "mesh" button. It may also be embedded in your application to make a seamless addition to your analysis suite. Mesh visualization and mesh control are available for more advanced users. Selected elements may be subdivided in a mesh refinement step, and the refined mesh will conform to the original geometry yielding a better approximation of the original model.

ObjectResults™

An electromagnetic analysis can generate a large quantity of numerical information. In addition to specific numbers of interest to the design engineer, an analysis will often yield scalar and vector fields, and possibly complex tabular data. How does one effectively organize these voluminous outputs into a rational, presentable format that supports useful interpretation and effective decision making?

ObjectResults™ has unparalleled ease-of-use features to manipulate and display field and matrix results. The user interface is "data-centric" with most operations available through interaction with a graphical display (tree control) of the analysis database. The result is control and display of data and images (including robust charting and graphing) that is simply better than other post-processing packages.

Solvers

We are developing several solvers that will address needs in the accelerator, microwave, and signal integrity application areas, as well as collaborating with groups in the scientific community to bring promising new solver technology to market. 2-D and 3-D eigenmode solvers, a driven frequency solver, and magneto/electrostatics solvers, are presently available within Analyst, with others slated for release in the coming months. Many of our solvers can efficiently use multiprocessors and networked or clustered computers to solve very large problems not accessible by other commercial software.
